This is freeware because I firmly believe that any educational tools available should not be limited to only those who can pay, or at least those who can disregard a formal notice of ShareWare. My opinion, however, does not give leniency to edit or somehow profit off of Algebra Quizzer without my consent.
I could have included some more advanced features, such as the ability to create pages of randomly generated algebraic problems, or timed test features, but my goal in making this was not to fill it with options and abilities that would compromise its simplicity as well as ease-of-use. This is not a tutorial in algebra; it is simply a way for people to gain confidence in basic algebra.
The Quizzer series of educational software all conforms to basic Macintosh™ user interface guidelines and should be very simple to use provided that you know your way around the Macintosh™. To let Quizzer acknowledge your answer, simply press <enter>, <tab>, or <return>. For instance, if you think an answer is 5, key in "5," and press one of the above stated keys. To find out how many problems you've answered, the number you answered correctly, and the percentage correct, press the "Score" button. To hear a computer generated voice (The Moose) speak about the type of problem you are currently answering, press the "Moose Help" button. Lastly, when you press a radio button that corresponds to a certain type of algebraic equation, you will not toggle to that type of problem until you have answered the problem currently displayed in the Quizzer window. This feature is built in to prevent some obvious forms of cheating that will distort the scores.
